Aquamour Festival: A celebration of water in all its forms

Organised by SUMus Venice, on March 21-25, 2025, Aquamour Festival has been an opportunity for dialogue and reflection on the vital role of water, not only for the iconic lagoon city, but for the whole world. Aiming at raising awareness and mobilizing the public in favour of the protection of water and its ecosystems, the regeneration of water with innovative solutions, and the evolution of society inspired by a new vision of water and aquatic ecosystems, the event celebrated this invaluable element through art, science, education and economy. The World Human Forum was a partner of the event, alongside various initiatives.

On Saturday, March 22, Alexandra Mitsotaki, co-founder and president of the World Human Forum, participated at “The Water Cycle and Trees” conference along with Giovanni Morelli. The performance “The Man Who Planted Trees”, inspired by Jean Giono’s short story and curated by Clothilde Durieux and Benjamin Flahault, was part of the same event.

The open-access Aquamour Festival brought together international experts, innovators, artists and local actors committed to protecting the lagoon. The goal was to stimulate inspiration and action, positioning Venice as a reference point in water management and sustainable city models. A key theme of this first edition has been biomimicry, a scientific approach that draws on nature’s proven models and strategies to solve human challenges.

During this 5-day celebration, participants had the opportunity to meet scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs who have proposed innovative water-inspired solutions to global challenges, to attend interactive art exhibitions and events but also playful workshops and engaging water experiences.
