Τhe 1st European Bauhaus Festival in Greece was held inaugurating a new, annual meeting

The 1st New European Bauhaus Festival (NEB – 1st Greece New European Bauhaus) took place in Greece on the 9, 10, 11 & 12 June with great success at The Ellinikon Experience Park, the new urban experiential park of Ellinikon. The festival was held in parallel with the European festival, in a total of 26 countries. The theme of this first NEB Festival was “ECO-building the Future”.  The park was the ideal venue to host this initiative, as it has been designed according to the principles of sustainable development, signalling a new, more environmentally friendly approach.

On 9 June the Festival started simultaneously with Brussels with the online greeting of Ursula von der Leyen and the welcome of Alexandra Mitsotakis, President & Co-Founder of the World Human Forum and NEB High Level Roundtable member and Odysseus Athanasiou, CEO of Lamda Development. This was followed by greetings from the government representatives George Amyras State Secretary for the Environment and Energy, Nicolas Yatromanolakis State Secretary for Culture & Sport, with responsibility for Contemporary Culture, George Patoulis Regional Governor of Attica, while Apostolos Tzitzikostas Regional Governor of Central Macedonia and President of the European Committee of the Regions spoke online from abroad.

Afterwards, the distinguished international speakers Antoinette Nassopoulos-Erickson Architect, Senior Partner at Foster + Partners, Deema Assaf Architect specializing in urban reforestation, Founder & Director of TAYYŪN, Chiu Chen – Yu Architect, Director (The Taiwan – Reyhanli Center for world citizens) and Maja Goepel Academic, Author, Researcher – Secretary General at the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU). While, on the second day 6 thematic sessions were held which presented new or innovative examples around the three pillars of N.E.B.: Beautiful, Sustainable, Inclusive.

At the same time, all participants and visitors had the opportunity to browse the exhibition that took place in the CUBE and highlighted sustainable initiatives from various institutions and companies; T.A.G.M.A 21, FUTURE INTELLIGENCE (FINT), Christiana Vardakou, AKUO ENERGY, ANIMA, MUSEUM GULANDRI, DEREE ACG, HEALING LESVOS.

The festival continued until 12 June with the screening of the concert “ALPHA MISSION – DELOS and the [uncertain] four seasons”.
