SASHA WALTZ & GUESTS: In C

Sasha Waltz recently brought In C to the Thessaloniki Concert Hall through an initiative by the World Human Forum and support from the German Embassy in Greece. In 2021, German choreographer Sasha Waltz created a choreographic system inspired by Terry Riley’s open score In C (1964). This system featured 53 choreographic forms for structured improvisation, allowing individual dancers creative freedom within a set of group-based rules. In C emphasized the balance between individuality and group dynamics, exploring the fluid roles of leader, follower, and intermediary in a network of collective creativity. Premiering via live stream from Berlin’s Radialsystem, In C received widespread acclaim internationally. Waltz, who began dancing at five and trained in the Netherlands, achieved global recognition with her trilogy on the human body, which included the notable work noBody at the Avignon Festival in 2002.

Sponsors of the performances : Copelouzos Group, Cosmote, Fraport, and Volvo-Papadopoulos. Hospitality sponsor is the Grand Hotel Palace, and Aegean Airlines is the air travel sponsor.
